Landlord and Tenant (Notices) (Revocations) (England) Regulations 2015

New regulations that revoke the Landlord and Tenant (Notices) Regulations 1957, and amending regulations, which contain various prescribed forms, as replacement relevant forms are now contained in the Long Residential Tenancies (Supplemental Forms) Regulations 1997.

Sharp increase in homeless applications from the private rented sector in Scotland

New report from Shelter that, whilst acknowledging that overall homeless applications in Scotland have decreased in the last five years due to good prevention work, also finds that the number of people who gave 'long-term roofless' as their previous housing circumstance has increased by 24 per cent, and the number of households found intentionally homeless by their local authority has risen.

DCLG publishes statistics on social housing lettings from April 2013 to March 2014

New statistics include that broad upward trend in social housing lettings by private registered providers continued, with a 5% increase in lettings to 270,659, and local authority lettings also increased to 126,238, a reversal of their long-term trend.

Government announces £23m of funding to help the homeless

The Housing (Wales) Act 2014 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2014

New statutory instrument brings into force provisions in the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 from 1 December 2014 including allowing the Welsh Ministers to set standards for social housing, allowing fully mutual housing associations to grant assured tenancies and allowing notices to be signed on behalf of tenants.

Chancellor announces reforms to stamp duty from 4 December 2014

Today's Autumn Statement 2014 (paragraph 2.121 onwards) sets out reforms including that portion of the transaction value up to £125,000 is charged at 0 per cent; portion between £125,001 and £250,000 is charged at 2 per cent; and portion between £250,001and £925,000 is charged at 5 per cent.
