Old reference books
Hi Everyone,
Over the years, we have accumulated multiple copies of the CPAG and Dis Rights books from previous years. After keeping one or two from each year, we have quite a few copies that are no longer needed.
I just wondered if anyone knows of anywhere that may want/need these? I imagine advice agencies will also keep their older copies of books and therefore our spares are probably not needed, but I thought I’d see if anyone has any ideas or can let me know what they do with their older books before I recycle them. Seems a shame if someone could use them.
I am Manchester based which may limit ideas further but if anyone has any suggestions I can look into, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Lauren
Thanks Lauren. We had to get rid of a few older copies of our CPAG Handbooks when we moved offices recently and I’d be interested to see whether we might be able to plug any gaps. I’ll drop you a DM about which years you have and the ones we’re missing, happy to cover P&P if this is a possibility.
I can’t seem to send a DM, but this is what I was trying to send, it’s not like it’s state secrets.
Hi Lauren, Thanks for the kind offer. We’re missing CPAG Handbooks for 2020-21, 2015-16, 2014-15, 2011-12, 2010-11, 2009-10 and all prior to 2008-09. I’m quite annoyed that they made us get rid of them when we moved as they said we wouldn’t have much space but that turned out to be not the case.
If you have any of these spare, I can work out how to cover your costs if you could send them to us - let us know if that works for you?
Thanks Paul
Hi Paul
Great thank you! More than happy for you to have whatever you need. I’ll check what we’ve got from that list as soon as I’m back in the office this week and contact you to let you know.
Kind regards,
Lauren
Paul - I’ve a duplicate spare 2020 - 2021 if Lauren doesn’t come up with one.
Thanks Simon, will keep that in mind - it’s the older ones we really need though, we had an enquiry this week about someone still on incapacity benefit and asking what happens when they reach SPA??!!
I have Sweet and Maxwell Volumes 1 & 3 for 21-22 and 22-23, if anyone wants them?
There may be some slightly older ones too (back to 2018?) at my old office, I can check if anyone interested.
Paul just want to confirm I haven’t forgotten about you - just haven’t been in the office this week. Will come back to you asap.
Have a great weekend,
thanks
Lauren

I’ll take you up on that vol 1 21/22 if I may. Proview is not my friend and I really struggle to access our ebooks. I can’t imagine it’ll get better over the years and it’s the last printed copy of the IS regs so may well come in handy for years to come.
Excuse for a beer next time you’re in town n’all unless you’re coming to Durham.
IS Regs were in volume V for 2021/2022, Dan. Volume I was non-means tested benefits, as it remains.
If anyone does have a spare copy of the 2021/22 Volume 5 (IS and Legacy Benefits) I’d be happy to receive it and am perfectly willing to cover p&p.
2021/22 Volume V (income Support and Legacy Benefits) and 2020/21 Volume III (Administration, Adjudication and the European Dimension) are both things worth having/retaining.
Both are available on Ebay for as little as £3.49 including postage.

I have the latter but was missing the former! I’d checked ebay in the past but couldn’t find a copy (presumably because everyone is holding onto them!), having just looked again I’ve managed to snaffle one up just now.
