Pension credit eligibility
I have spoken to a tenant who claims PIP standard Daily Living Allowance. Her State Pension income is £815.00 every 4 weeks . She has telephoned Pension Credit who has advised because she has two non dependents living with her they should be contributing towards her income so she cannot claim Pension Credit.
The tenant is waiting to move to a one bedroomed property via social Housing . Her children are living with her whilst awaiting housing.
I know UC and HB make deductions for non dependents . What rates apply if this is the case for Pension Credit . Both non dependents do not claim PIP and work full time .
In Pension Credit, there are non-dependant deductions from long leaseholders’ housing costs, but that is not the problem here. The issue seems to be that her pension income is to high to get Guarantee Credit without a Severe Disability Premium, and it is the presence of non-dependants that prevents her from being entitled to an SDP.
Thanks for the information , much appreciated
How old is she? If she reached pension age before April 2016 there may be a Savings Pension Credit entitlement.
