Almost all local appeals listed in Sheffield through Leeds have been on the phone
I have had 3 listing notices this week. 2 are on phone and 1 in person. the in person case has no unusual features requiring it to be in person.
Are others getting cases listed in person?
Most of my clients are expecting phone hearings as we have had them for so long.
have I missed some tribunal direction?

We still do a mix of telephone and face to face appeals. Our courts reopened about 8 weeks ago

Any logic behind which are done by phone and which face to face?

It’s probably just functionally random unless there are specific directions in the case.

If they are going to run a day’s WCA list in Rotherham, they will need 6-8 Rotherham cases and a Judge and Doctor who can get to Rotherham. Perhaps they only have 4 Rotherham cases, but they have a Newcastle case and a Sunderland case which need to be heard so maybe the panel hear those cases by telephone in the afternoon.

If a particular disposal is appropriate, then directions can be requested.

East London and Fox Court venues have re-opened for face to face hearings but I always attend by CVP and ask clients for their preferences

Most of my clients now prefer to attend remotely and I encourage them to attend by CVP rather than by phone if they can.
