This should be quite straightforward but I would just like to check it.

Cl. on IB (LT), DLA (HRM; MRC); IS top up.  Wife on CA for caring for him.  Recent DWP notification shows CA as part of the income & a carers premium included in calculating the Personal Allowance.  This is correct so far as I can see.

But in Feb. 2010 DWP issued a notification which did not mention wife’s CA or include the carers premium.  The result of the change is to reduce the IS payable by about £20 p wk.

Wife has been on CA for about 3 years & Cl. says this is the first time it has been included as part of the income.

It rather looks as if DWP made a mistake & are now correcting it, but I’d be grateful for any comments/corrections to what I think the situation is.

I’d say your thinking is correct, there’s been a mistake and it’s been corrected.

Any indication of an overpayment?

Thanks for that.  Nothing has been said about o/p - so far!  Seems to me that if it is raised, it should not be recoverable - no way Cl. could have realised he was being overpaid.
