Late EU SS application but with a R2R pre 31/12/2021

Hi,  My EU client arrived in the UK Feb 2020 and started to work in the UK Feb 2020.  She is currently on Maternity Leave (so still under contract with her employer).  She has not submitted an application under the EU SS, so this will be a late application - she has “reasonable grounds” to make a late application.  However, my question is about benefits,
that is, once my client’s application has been submitted, will she be entitled to claim UC, given that she had a right to reside pre 31/12/2020, but effectively has not been legally resident in the UK since 30/06/2021 (end of grace period).

All responses very much appreciated.
Kind regards, Lesley

I think my client *may* be OK (setting aside the legal mechanics of how these protections are to be reflected in law - if indeed this will happen) once she has submitted her late application - see https://www.gov.uk/government/news/temporary-protection-for-more-applicants-to-the-settlement-scheme.
