Does anyone know how the £500 one off payment would be treated in claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction. Will it for example be treated as capital, or maybe attributed as an income over 6 months?

Thank you

All confirmed in our story today - https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/welfare-rights/news/item/dwp-confirms-that-500-one-off-payment-issued-to-claimants-of-working-tax-credit-will-be-disregarded-if-the-recipient-subsequently-claims-universal-credit

Not WTC - payment under coronavirus support scheme - disregarded in full for HB (and I guess likely CTR tho would need to check)

And also highlights that once WTC claimant has qualified they can move to UC striaght away without it being taken into account.

Obviously would want to check if it was in their interests otherwise…

To be fair Stewbold, I’d literally just published it! It wasn’t there when you posted your query ;)

Just was a handy answer when I came on the forum just after writing it ;)
