If client gets IS on the basis of being a carer then ceases to be a carer, can their IS claim carry on on the basis of having a 3 year old child or would there be issues if the lone parent route wasn’t the initial basis of the claim?

That’s fine - there’s no break in their eligibility for IS so they can stay on it - no new claim required. Might be worth spelling it out for DWP when they stop being carer to make sure payment doesn’t stop and then cause problems

Brilliant thanks. Such a seemingly easy question but I can find a potential flaw in a plan at 100 paces!
