British Citizen and Sudanese Wife

Good morning, Quick question. I’ve had a query:  British citizen would like to claim UC as his hours are decreasing at work.  He has a Sudanese wife that has been in the country for three years on a Spousal Visa with no recourse to public funds.  They also have a one year old daughter who was born here.

I presume that he can make a claim for UC and whilst she will be down on the claim they will not be able to get money as a couple.  He will get the standard allowance for himself and a child responsibility element.

If the wife starts work that income will have to be taken into consideration.

Thank you in advance

That’s essentially it.

I thought so, you know when you just need someone to bounce off?  Thanks very much!
