Quick question about Carers Allowance underlying entitlement

When DWP call carers and tell them their Carers Allowance will stop when they are state pension age, they never seem to let them know about underlying entitlement/carers addition in pension credit.

Can I just check, when a carer gets to SP age, although their CA payments stop (if their SP is higher) the actual claim carries on as underlying entitlement? DWP don’t close the claim entirely right?

Cheers

If the amount of State Pension exceeds the Carer’s Allowance amount, then yes, the SP is payable but the CA award remains but not in payment.

Cheers Paul! I thought it did, but I’ve had about 3 people ring me up because DWP had phoned them telling them their claim would end completely and made no mention of carer addition for PC. Be nice if DWP at least told them ‘your payments will end but you will have underlying entitlement so check for PC eligibility’

Shouldn’t they get a letter from CA confirming that they still have underlying entitlement.
