Reporting earnings via journal

I spoke with a claimant today who has been asked to manually report her Furlough earnings via a link on her journal. She advises shes been asked to do this each month going forward.
This follows a UC overpayment, because HMRC did not report her income to UC.  (It is unclear if employer had reported her earnings).
Has any one else come across this manual declaration via the clients UC journal? Its not something I have encountered before, and wonder if it is a response to increasing problems with real time information during covid.?
