Announcement re shielding from 1 August 2020
So the govt has announced that “from Saturday 1 August, the guidance will be relaxed so clinically extremely vulnerable people will no longer be advised to shield ...” and that the “government shielding support package will remain in place until the end of July ...”
So presumably this means no SSP via the Statutory Sick Pay (General) (Coronavirus Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2020 (SI.No.427/2020) ...
NB - in its announcement the govt helpfully says that “updated guidance for those classed as clinically extremely vulnerable will be published on .... 1 August as these measures come into force”
Interestingly although the announcement was only made yesterday letters about the change have already been received today. Lots of stuff about what people can do from 1st August - with the proviso that there remains a need to maintain strict social distancing (whatever that may be by then). That is clearly going to be a challenge to do.[ Edited: 23 Jun 2020 at 02:19 pm by Ianb ]
