My aunt went out with Rod Stewart.

Surely the only correct response is “didn’t everyone?” :)

I bought a set of towels for the Redskins from John Lewis in Nottingham’s Victoria Centre ahead of their gig at the Poly that evening (which this tells me might have been 29th November 1985)

I used to freelance for Melody Maker for North Wales and the North West. I refused to interview X Moore because he was friends with people in the NME and it was very tribal. This despite the interview being set up for nowt by my mate Donna (who never sorted any freebies for me ever again).

See, look what you’ve done now. You’ve all set me off :)

I went to 6th form with Mick Quinn from Supergrass. We all had to dress up (fancy dress) for last day before A levels. Still got the photos….

I met the Queen with a large cardboard dragon’s head on at a Cub Scout Jamboree. We were doing St Michael and the dragon which is a key part of Flora Day in my hometown Helston.

She stopped to talk to me and asked “So you’re a dragon are you?” and I tried to reply but my voice was so muffled by the cardboard head that she gave up trying to understand me and moved on, Never gotten over my royal snub….

Um, why did you buy towels for a Red Skins gig may I ask? I know he used to gob a lot but that was onto the stage, not into the audience.

My dad used to deliver Cliff Richard’s newspaper on his moped back in the early ‘70s.

My work is done! (drops mike in slightly embarassed middle-aged way)

Very appropriate for my one hour walk round in ever decreasing circles on the small green opposite my house. It’ll be flat by the time I’m done. Not sure I want it to be as it’s basically two backfilled mine-shafts which they obviously couldn’t build housing on.

I read that as the Queen had the dragon’s head on - I was quite surprised ;)

X Moore was a very odd bloke but I will concede that Lean On Me was their one cracker :)

There is a copy of Bring it Down/You Want It…They’ve got it (12” - I had a Saturday job so could afford the finer things in those days) here on my shelf. What happened to them in the end, I heard the lead singer (X-Moore?) moved to Paris and fell out with SWP?

I got the bus with Attila The Stockbroker once.

I’m just waiting for his autobiography to come out, to check that he’s remembered.

Ah, discovered him through the Pillows and Prayers Cherry Red compilation. “A Bang And A Wimpey”.

Side note. I really miss Wimpey spicy beanburgers. I would fart for hours but what a joy they were.
