Also Gregory Isaacs’ moving tribute to health professionals, ‘Night Nurse’.
Just heard said news that Bob Andy has died, whose ‘I’m Going Home’ was another.
And long before George Osborne, Delroy Wilson sang ‘We’re all in this thing together’.
I hope this collection from dearly departed singers will help keep everyone’s spirits up.

Been fighting with the hi-fi for months so my sound is a bit hit and miss (wonderful timing right now) so I never know what I’m going to get. Had King Princess with tonnes of mids and bass followed by 2 hours of ska with next to none yesterday. Have concluded it’s the sound of an expensive CD player dying or more likely a room interaction thing. CD player will die if it travels for repair given that it’s 18 years old and I can’t exactly go for room treatment right now (assuming I’m right) so I’m trying to mix music in with lots of films and reading and family games.
Still, “If’N” on the list for tonight.

I was in the next hall to Eldritch at university. Everyone knew him or of him. It wasn’t an especially positive uplifting experience. I was also in a band which shared the rehearsal space with the Sisters and other bands under the dining hall of said hall of residence. Had the chance to nick Dr. Avalanche and never took it. “Regrets… I’ve had a few!” :) Was given all the first three singles in picture covers. Pristine condition in the garage. Must admit they had something but it was soon lost IMHO.

It’s a great song whose power crosses language lines but I’m afraid it’s been forever sullied by overuse by us Gogs when the teams comes out at Cae Ras. I use ADC (audio descriptive commentary) at the match and even the noise cancelling on my headphones can’t kill it. The Gogs will rightly take the blame on this one.

The description I’ve always used for people who don’t know them is Ennio Morricone meets the Jesus and Mary Chain, with all the expanse and noise that entails.
Yeah, that works. I could never stand J&MC;. Went to an early Leeds gig and the riot was so obviously orchestrated I was embarrassed for them. Lost all credibility in an instant.

Definitely want a claim to fame thread, mine is that i used to service the motorbike that belonged to Rick Stein’s receptionist- top that!!

That seems mighty unlikely :) He won’t remember me and goodness knows I’ve tried to forget him.
I’ve still a whole set of bootleg cassettes of various gigs acquired from one of his sidelines at the time. Weirdly I’ve never seen him in the Alumni magazine :) Mind you they’ve only just admitted that the people who produce the “My Dad Wrote A Porno” podcast came from Leeds :)
