Email addresses for DWP offices

It sees to me that these should be made available to advisers at least. We could then operate a paperless system whereby claims are made by email. For example, scan in completed PIP forms, ESA and UC forms etc. This would help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Evidently, paper carries the disease, which I am told remains live for 72 hours after contact with an infected person. This would be an additional safeguard for the DWP staff . If there are any DWP staff reading this, perhaps the PCS could be made aware of my suggestion.

It’s beyond time that they started accepting email. Even HMCTS can use email now (my first exposure to HMCTS when an innocent trainee was trying to email some documents to them for a WRO and being told they’d need to change computer as only one could access email! This was 2013!!!) and it does seem to work quite well on the whole for HMCTS.

Quite apart from any pandemic related reasons, it’s clearly far better for us if we can email stuff the DWP as needed, it’s better for clients as an increasing number of them would probably prefer to interact with the DWP via email. At the very least they need to sort out the UC journal so clients can upload documents to their journal as needed. And yet I’m not convinced that even a global pandemic will be sufficient to change their mind on this. Probably for some spurious data protection related reason seeing as that seems to be one of their favourite excuses…

This would be really useful.
I have a couple of PIP MR requests to lodge. Was thinking that the only option available is to email ‘correspondence’ unless anyone has any better ideas?

Good morning all.
I have today tried to email a MR request to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
This was the email set up originally as a reasonable adjustment for customers .
The emails have been returned as undeliverable unfortunately and I also tried taking out the gsi without success.
I would really appreciate any help with obtaining a current email address as printing and posting isn’t possible due to isolating at home.
Thank you

This would be particularly useful for DS1500s for PIP and AA now we are home working with no printer access.

juliem - The Black Country DWP partnership team have sent us emails where we can send DS1500s for PIP, ESA and UC. However, we’re not allowed to send documents by email (we don’t have secure email unfortunately).

So for these you might want to speak to your partnership manager to check if there’s emails available to send them over. I think North Central should be the one covering Barnsley: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dwp-partnerships/national-partnership-teams and they should direct you to the local teams if there’s an email available.

I had a call to a CNS this afternoon about a DS1500 and because I don’t have a secure email she could not scan it over to me, so I have just asked her to send it directly to the PIP10 freepost address and I am now listening to PIP hold muzak as we speak to do the change in circs over the phone

I have a PIP MR and a supersession I need to follow up and see where they’re up to. Phoning is exhausting. Gave up after 90 minutes last time. I’ll try again but any clues re: a working email address?

I’m inclined towards .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) which does at least always deliver but if anyone knows of anything better?

You could get CNS to email -

Email from DWP -
For Information- for those of you with a gov.uk email address who support clients with a terminal illness
DS1500 – Notification of Terminal Illness Form Changes
For the attention of staff in Local Authorities involved in benefit advice or similar work.
In light of the difficulties faced by many working from home DWP has opened up an email facility to allow the DS1500 to be emailed to the Department rather than needing to be printed and posted in. The DS1500 will only be accepted if it sent in from a .gov.uk email address – forms received from personal or non .gov.uk email addresses will not be actioned. We already have a facility to receive the DS1500 from NHS.net and Wales.nhs email addresses.
The DS1500 should be sent to the following email address: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) (link sends e-mail)

unfortunately NHS Lothian, unlike NHS Fife, don’t have nhs.net accounts

If you need to send a secure email could you not simply Encrypt it?
This is a simple guide on how: https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/encrypt-email-messages-373339cb-bf1a-4509-b296-802a39d801dc

Also it might be worth subscribing to the Touchbase emails if you havent already as they can often give updated contact details: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/touchbase-dwp-news-about-work-working-age-benefits-and-services/march-2020-touchbase-edition-140
