Request from Cat McShane from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism ...

I’m a reporter with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism doing some research into Specialist Supported Housing.

This is in particular reference to Registered Providers operating a lease-based model, where each tenancy is paid through exempt housing benefit, and where there is a separate Care Provider in place. This is in light of the Social Housing Regulator recently identifying registered providers that operate a lease-based model as potentially unviable.

I’m keen to hear from a range of advisers on this. Have you got disabled clients where the council is pushing back on the level of exempt rent being charged? Or you work on the side of the council and are concerned about particular RPs. Have you had complaints from clients around conditions, safety etc of Specialist Supported Housing? Or perhaps you have got disabled clients who are struggling to find a suitable home.

Please do get in touch with your insights. Anything said will be confidential. I’m at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
