He has tweeted this anonymised email from a claimant, claiming the person’s problems were brought on by scaremongering coverage:

I note that the email doesn’t say what the original problem with UC was caused by.

Also, this morning, further to the new research published in the Lancet, and in response to Tom Pollard, a specialist mental health worker who previously spent 18 months at the DWP seconded from Mind -

When we talk to claimants it is predominately fear of the system driven from what they have heard rather than the system itself that is driving anxieties.  When we explain how the system actually works the predominant reaction is relief

“When we explain how the system works ... ” could be interpreted as spin speak that claimant’s are relieved when they understand how the on line process works - after all its probably only a minority of claimant that have significant difficulty with the process as was the case under legacy. But that avoids addressing the impact of other aspects of UC like the wait for payment, advance payments, deduction rates & debt, poor decision making inc. R2R &WCA;, sanctions, being worse off compared to legacy [the list continues .....].

Maybe the Department should follow the lead of Companies House, who have a dedicated thanks channel:
