No deductions are being made but this message has popped up on claimant’s journal about 18 months after they claimed UC. Is this common?

Some other benefits can affect how much Universal Credit you get. You can continue to claim these benefits, but we will adjust your Universal Credit payment. Your statement shows you how we do this.

Our records show that you are getting:
Employment and Support Allowance

If you think this is wrong
If you no longer get this benefit you should contact the office you claimed it from. Tell them you’re now getting Universal Credit and to update their records.

A colleague who is on UC along with one of my clients has also had this message in the last couple of weeks. In both cases we were quite non-plussed as the benefits in question (JSA and ESA respectively) had been closed down several months ago with the full cooperation of JSA and ESA!!

There have been no ill effects as yet but I remain suspicious…
