I send them to: Universal Credit, Freepost DWP

They always seem to get them.

Hope this helps.

Jim.

The address is given on decision letters is: Freepost DWP
                                                Universal Credit

If you want to post it recorded, however, (always recommended!) you need an address with a postcode though:
Universal Credit
Post Handling Site B
Wolverhampton
WV99 1AJ

If your client has a UC digital account, it’s probably a good idea to stick the MR request in the journal too; I had a client successfully do this by copying and pasting a scan of the hard copy which I emailed to him into the journal message box.

Hi all, we have had numerous pieces of post returned as undelivered recently when we have used the UC Freepost DWP address.  I called UC and was told to use this (although as a health warning - this is a new thing so we have not tested it yet!):

I’ve found making the request on the Journal is the quickest and safest way even though we’ve had to show them their own guidance about it at one point.

I guess as you’re needing an address this is not an online account though. It would be interesting to know which of these addresses works if you could let us know on here!

I’ve certainly had successful MRs which were sent to the Wolverhampton address; as I tend to double up with the journal to be sure though, I can’t say which channel has actually worked! My organisation likes to do the paper thing still even where there’s an online account.

These posts are really useful.  I’m doing some work on how well the MR process works overall.

So far, in our work with DWP, due to the lack of stats and relatively small number of example cases we have (compared to how many MRs the DWP processes), we’re having some difficulty having our concerns acknowledged as widespread/ systemic problems.

Does MR ever work well for you?  If it does, how often?  Please complete our short survey so we have a clearer idea of just how widespread the problems are: https://bit.ly/2Vv7L5i

And you can tell us about individual cases too: https://cpag.org.uk/policy-campaigns/early-warning-system
