Client in receipt of PIP has notified local authority so that benefit cap is lifted from her HB. LA say that they have to be notified by DWP and that I should contact them but which department?? PIP? Or is there a special Benefit Cap section? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

HI unhindered - HB have probably been told by DWP to apply the cap and in our area they will not remove the cap unless instructed to do so by DWP - that said I understand that HB can remove the cap themselves if they have evidence that it should no longer apply

I have not had one of these cases for a while but there was a specific phone number we used to ring at DWP   to   request they contact HB section to instruct them to remove the cap - this number   is 0800 169 0145
