Apologies if this has been asked before. I’m out of the office and haven’t got access to book etc. My client is currently on income support as a carer for her disabled daughter. She lives with her partner and they also have a 3 year old child. They are currently getting HB, CTC, CA etc they’re moving to a new property in another area. They won’t be claiming rent as this is being funded from a compensation payment for her daughter. If she moves areas and doesn’t make a new claim for rent, can she stay on Income Support? I can’t see that moving will make any difference financially but her partner would be required to look for work. Am I right in thinking because they won’t be claiming HB/rent allowance, it won’t be a COC prompting a new claim?

If there’s no need to claim for the rent then yes they can stay on the benefits they are currently on
