Good afternoon
I am having a lapse and cant remember when the new changes to UC come in to include more thn 2 dependent children.
Is it up to 3 children or is it more than this?
can anyone help please and the date it comes into force.

I am trying to do a benefit calculation but am struggling going forwards as cant see whether the client is better of claiming now and keeping legacy benefits of UC

thank you in anticipation

best wishes

Nigel

Basically the UC rules will now reflect the legacy benefit approach to more than two children (e.g. no further child element for children born after 5th April 2017 with a small list of exceptions)

From 1/2/19, families with three or more children will no longer be protected from claiming UC and will have to claim and be subject to the same rules as under legacy benefits.

Hope that helps.

Edit: will have to claim UC when a relevant change in circumstances requires them to… many will stay on legacy benefits until managed migration.

Thank you for your help.

I knew it was along those lines but the information available to assist clients from tomorrow going forwards is scarce apart from what you have said about who is counted for a clam and who is not.

thank you so much

best wishes
