A taskforce is to be set up to take forward recommendations from the First Minister’s Advisory Group on Human Rights Leadership.

The announcement was made by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on Human Rights Day, as the group published their final report, with seven recommendations to ensure Scotland is an international leader in building a rights-based society.

Speaking today on the launch of proposal by the First Minister’s Advisory Group on Human Rights Leadership, John Wilkes, Equality and Human Rights Commission Head of Scotland said: ‘This is a really welcome development. If this is taken forward it will place Scotland at the front of other UK countries in developing a progressive, rights based society.

well the HRA 1998 applies to Scotland and is therefore part of Scots Law to be applied.
