UC payments at Christmas
Written answer from Alok Sharma says -
‘The Department will advance the timing of all payments for people affected by bank holidays, to make sure they have money over the festive period.
Universal Credit payments due to be received on 24, 25 and 26 December will be paid no later than 21 December.
Universal Credit payments due to be received on 30, 31 December and 1 January will receive payment no later than 31 December.’

What a mess! The written answer is incorrect and the dates in the article it refers to at https://www.gov.uk/how-to-have-your-benefits-paid are for benefits other than Universal Credit. The dates are different for Universal Credit - dates Universal Credit will be paid are shown at: https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/how-youre-paid
As usual UC payments due at a weekend are paid on the preceding Friday. The only other changes for UC are that payments due on 25 and 26 December are paid on 24 December and payments due on 1 January are paid on 31 December. In particular UC payments due on 24 December and for Scotland only, on 2 January, are NOT paid in advance.
