We are currently seeing a number of clients who, after making their initial claim for PIP are then sent a letter asking them to verify their identity. Many of these already receive benefits (ESA/UC etc.)

They are asked to send their:

- Passport; or
- Birth Certificate; or
- Adoption Certificate; or
- Current, full or provisional driving licence

Their also asked to provide further evidence, choosing from a further 22 documents.

The letter states that failure to provide these within 21 days will mean the claim will be disallowed.

Anyone else come across this?

Recent case of an aslylum seeker with Refugee status and full recourse to public funds. Already has a UC claim. Called into jobcentre to verify ID (causing her huge distress).

Still awaiting PIP2 3 weeks later.

One of my clients, a British citizen, had this recently. Delayed the issue of the PIP2 further extending the time it will take to get a decision.
