Claiming UC in a care home

I’m looking for some advice on claiming UC when in residential care. My client is 63 and in receipt of PIP enhanced DL/M. He receives LA & NHS funding. My questions are:

1. Due to his condition, he is unable to leave the home. Will the DWP arrange a visiting officer to confirm ID etc
2. As he doesn’t generally see a GP but has a nurse looking after him in the home, will a fit note from a GP be required or will something from the home suffice?

Silly questions but it’s been a very long day.

1. Yes, the Jobcentre can do home visits for the ID interview. Sometimes they have to be persuaded that this needed, but as the client is in a care home I’d expect it to be fairly straightforward in this case.

2. As far as I am aware, a fit note must be issued by a doctor.
