Hi,

I met with a new UC claimant who had been given a 100% STBA of approx. £800 based on the information she had input to her claim.  However, she had included her 2 children but they have now been taken off her claim as they live with their dad and she had also included housing costs which aren’t eligible to be added for UC (she lives with her mum at the moment).

Her actual UC payment will only be approx. £40 per month, as she works part-time.  Recovery for the STBA over 12 months should be £68 per month.

How will UC recover this amount?  Will they just extend the period beyond 12 months?

Thanks,
