ESA & Universsal Credit

If someone living in an area where UC is being rolled out is receiving contribution based ESA and would be entitled to claim income based ESA as well,  would any such claim for income based ESA fall within UC? I am trying to find out if a change an application for income based ESA would trigger a claim for UC

It depends on whether the ESA award is old-style or new-style. An ESA award that began before UC rolled out in that area should be capable of including income-related elements.
