Hi we have been asked why we retain clients files/records for 6 years. I cannot recall the exact reason ( I’m far too old to remember , maybe around legal documentation ) , is this 6 years standard for Welfare Rights Services ? If so can you share the reason/s why ?

Cheers

Hi Billy - probably kept for 6 years as per Limitatations Act 1980 in case of client complaints/ legal action for misadvice (  6 years seems standard but some files kept even longer than this)
