Registered rents - moving from housing benefit to universal credit

If a private tenant (under pension age,) receives full housing benefit, well in excess of Local Housing Allowance - because they have a high ‘Registered’ rent - will their rent be restricted to LHA when they move to Universal Credit or will they receive the full registered rent amount in their UC?

Does it make any difference if they have a registered rent and claim UC for the first time, or if they were already receiving HB?

(Registered rents are pre15 January 1989 & also known as regulated or protected tenancies)

Thanks for any advice
