I see you can now lodge an appeal online https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/appeal-a-social-security-benefits-decision-form-sscs1 .

Anyone tried yet? Do you get a proper acknowledgement via email? Does it let you do it as rep?

Not sure I dare try it yet!

We have been lodging appeals by email for quite some time now. We just scan the Mandatory Reconsideration Notice, do the SSCS1 and a signed authority to represent and email everything to HMCTS.(a signed authority is only needed if you are signing the SSCS1 yourself). You do get an email receipt. HMCTS will usually respond if there is any problems with the appeal.

If only lodging a Mandatory Reconsideration was as easy :(

Hi Jane,
It’s the first time I’ve seen a link on the Gov.website for it but I send appeals electronically already. I see it says if you are in the Birmingham area (I take that to mean admin area) you can appeal a PIP decision:  https://benefit-appeal.platform.hmcts.net/ although I have sent other appeals like this.

The pilot seems to cover quite a wide area - I’ve just tried Leicester and Nottingham postcodes and it accepts those. https://benefit-appeal.platform.hmcts.net/benefit-type

I’ve lodged appeals by email for some time. Never had any objection as yet.

Where the form asks for your email address it says “you’ll get updates and a link so you can track your appeal online” that sounds interesting - do you find that has useful info?

Just for clarity - I’m not talking about emailing SSCS1s - this is a webform.

I’m with Mike on that -  if I’m within a week of the deadline they get emailed to Liverpool

I’m assuming that this is the first stage of rolling out the new online appeals resolution system that was consulted on a little while ago.
