This was produced following a request from claimants.

http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/work-and-pensions-committee/news-parliament-2017/pip-esa-claimant-experiences-report-17-19/

It was also in todays Metro paper.

DWP response?

“A majority of our claimants are very happy with out decisions, and only 4 percent of decisions are overturned on appeal”

Wow

How incredibly Orwellian

I wonder where they get the 4% from?

With that response i fear that nothing will be done, as according to JC+ nothing needs doing.

4% of all claims you would assume rather than appealed decisions.

But is it really only 4%? Is this just for esa and PIP or does it include claims for CA, JSA etc and other generally undisputed benefits as well?

The other corker from DWP is that they are disappointed that these are anonymous case studies to which they cannot possibly respond.

How ******** unfair on DWP eh???

But of course, had they been given names etc, they would say “We do not comment on individual cases.”

A government spokesman said the assessments worked for the “majority”.

So their defence is it’s slightly better than flipping a coin.

Although the system “works” for the majority it actually only works in the sense that the majority accept the decisions made. They may still be incorrect decisions.

If the system did not work for the majority, we would not be making complaints and discussing improvements, we would be seeking abolition of the said benefits and the resignations of various responsible persons.

The defence that it works for the majority is a masterpiece of fatuity.
