Mental Health Evidence Reports - Request from Royal College Psychiatrists for Guidance

The current President of Royal College of Psychiatrists has asked me to post on here following many online/real life robust discussions re Psychiatrists failure to grasp the essentials of writing evidential reports and/or reluctance. Or just feeling totally out of their depth when wanting to assist. Thought would run with it while live topic.

There is a general fairly outdated link to ESA on the website – see below ( hope it works but on membership page so not sure!). Some input in the past pro bono from a welfare rights worker and a Psychiatrist who has attended Tribunals.

Now whilst pressing for this type of work to be fully funded and included in the next year’s budget & beyond in the meantime asking if any of the RightsNet community have /want to create a template or even better a link for PIP & ESA that can put forward to RcPsych so can say ‘Here we are- put this on the website and circulate…’. Guess we all have ideas of what we want but if someone has produced something bespoke already maybe can get it shared this way if agreeable.

Previous incumbent wasn’t up for this but new President more engaged with the issues (IMVHO) and active on Twitter if anyone wants to engage directly with her . Only 10% or so of those with MH conditions seen under secondary care but if can get something the WR community thinks covers the essentials on to the website maybe can then get GP’s to lift, copy & paste.

Any/all thoughts really welcome….

EDIT
Although not when posted on here. Can be accessed by searching for ESA on the site itself

Do we have a Twitter handle for them? I practically live on Twitter.

Hi
Many thanks for trying to repost the link.

Re Twitter: her handle is @wendyburn . Not on social media myself but have seen the conversations and was made aware of her request for solutions- hence this move .Notice can read Twitter threads without actually being a member which is about all can manage! Had an email discussion with her prior to posting here

Cheers. @GMWRAGTweets has just followed her and we’ll post a version of this up on the site and see what comes forward.
