Does anyone know if permitted work rules still exist for new style ESA ie. CBESA, given that there is no permitted work under UC?

Yes - the rules are at regulation 39 of the Employment and Support Allowance Regulations 2013. At a glance, they don’t seem to have changed.

The major change has been that from 3 April 2017 people can do Permitted Work indefinitely even if not in the Support Group - the 52 weeks time limit has been removed
