Jobseekers commitment whilst awaiting ESA appeal

I hope someone could help with some advice on this.

My client has been refused ESA and pending the appeal is unable to reclaim ESA or get JSA while sick because of previous failed claims. He must then conform to JSA Jobseekers commitment until appeal heard in order to get his benefit payments.

His Job coach has requested that he does some IT training which will conflict with appointments with his rehabilitation group. Can they do this as it potentially will have an adverse effect on his health and wellbeing if he relapses because of this.
