When can he claim?

I can’t believe I’m still saying that Universal Credit is all new to me, etc, but there you go.
We’re in digital service area, not full.

My man is currently working out notice, having had employment terminated.  He’s been told his last wage will be nil, because he’s already exceeded holiday balances for the year.

DWP have advised to claim UC when his employment ends.

Is there anything to stop him claiming UC now - given that he will not be expecting to receive earnings in excess of the gateway limit during his assessment period?

I can’t see why not, unless there’s a system problem along the way, or some such.

Any thoughts welcomed, thanks in advance.

I cant see a reason, given its not based on the hours you are working but the earnings ‘actually received’ during the assessment period.
As long as he meets the rest of the gateway criteria…. assume you meant ‘Live Service’ as you mention gateway earnings limit?

Thanks for the reply - and you’re quite right, of course.  I meant ‘live’, but I’m still not sure about ‘service’.  I need a holiday.
