I have a client who is a lone parent of a 3 year old child.

The client has several epileptic seizures a week and receives PIP and in SG of ESA

The client seems to think she can get childcare paid for via tax credits (i told her she cant, as she isnt working) however the client is adamant that she needs childcare due to her condition.

Is there ANYTHING in the system to assist here?

Is there any provision for childcare for non workers who have disabilities?

Client not wanting social services or local authority involved as she is scared of losing her child

Thanks

Hi

Might be worth looking at this, as she seems eligible i.e. IRESA

Cheers

The client, I think, needs to be advised more on their rights surrounding support under social services. There is support potentially available under the Care Act 2014 and s17 Children Act 1989. Social services cannot take a child away without a court order unless the parent/guardian gives consent. This support is there to provide the type of support you’re requesting.
