Can’t find the answer to this anywhere. it is clear if you have to make a new claim to tax credits in full service area this will trigger a claim for UC.
Does claiming another element of tax credits do the same? e.g. single claimant of WTC has a child and entitled to CTC, parent on CTC starts work and is now entitled to WTC,

A WTC claimant who becomes entitled to CTC can still claim it (and vice versa).

See Newcastle Welfare Right Service’s handy guide - https://www.newcastle.gov.uk/sites/default/files/wwwfileroot/benefits-and-council-tax/welfare-rights-and-money-advice/what_triggers_a_claim_for_universal_credit_in_a_full_service_area.pdf

Edit: snap.

.. unless you have more than 2 children, in which case you’re back into claiming legacy benefits between now and November 2018.

Just found a more up-to-date version than David’s from June 2017.

What triggers a claim for Universal Credit in a ‘full service’ area?
