I have a client who will be entitled to maternity allowance as a self employed worker, earnings over £50k, net profit £35k per year.

the question i have is that she is also a director of another company and receives a small income from this (about £100 per month), could this in any way be counted as working and therefore preclude her from the maternity allowance?

Thanks

Hi Dominic

I have a similar enquiry - did you get a response from any other source on this?

My client - will receive either a one off or two lump sum ‘retainer fee’ payments while she is on maternity leave and receiving maternity allowance on the basis of self-employment.  She will not be doing work in exchange for these payments.

Best,

EKS
