Hi

I am aware of the Home Office changing visa routes for those who already have family here in the UK and those who don’t BUT I cannot find anything which clarifies the no recourse to public funds restriction.

I have read a letter which First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, says “For those Ukrainians who were already in the UK prior to Russia’s unprovoked and illegal invasion, the UK Government announcement of temporary visa extensions and in-country visa category switching measures simply do not go far enough. Ukrainians in the UK should be offered the assurance that they will be offered protection in the UK for as long as is required, regardless of their migration status. In this respect it is vital that you lift No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) and any employment restrictions so that individuals can support themselves and access vital public services during this difficult time without fear of breaching the conditions of their visa”

Does anyone have any info please?

Thanks

You are perhaps looking for this?

There are some fairly small changes to the usual rules to allow Ukrainian nationals who were already in the UK to apply to extend their limited leave in certain situations where they would otherwise have been unable to. There is nothing to suggest that any NRPF condition which applies will be relaxed.

As always, the House of Commons Library has summarised the position so may also be helpful alongside the gov.uk info… although subject to their warning that ‘This is a fast-moving situation and this information should be treated as up-to-date at the point of publication’.
