Hello

I’ve taken a call today from a client who has been on UC since March 2020 as self employed.  She is gainfully self employed and has ben providing proof of her income etc but on 14/01/22 she was sent updated guidance on self employment allowable expenses and they have asked her to resubmit details for the previous 6 months (14/07/21 to 13/01/22).

The question is has there been any change to the guidance? She was never sent any guidance prir to 14/01/22.  Is it likely that UC will want her to resubmit her details for an earlier period and if so, will they use the updated guidance or the guidance before it was updated which she has not seen.

Thanks!

This is the guidance update on the 14/01/2022 if you have self-employed earnings and are claiming Universal Credit.

Last years guidance on the permitted expenses is here ( I haven’t yet compared and contrasted )

The figures all seem the same.

Thank you everyone, this is really helpful.  The client has come back asking if there is a breakdown of the expenses mentioned in the versions - the pub landlord!  She wants to know if this example was based on a particular case as she is struggling with her expenses.

Was there a Tribunal regarding Felix the pub landlord?

Thank you!
