UC rent direct payments muddle

I am getting a nasty headache trying to understand my client’s rent statements.

UC missed 2 payments direct to HA early in 2020. There is nothing to suggest client not entitled to these.

Payment 10/01/20 for AP ended 28/12/19. So far so good…

No payments for 2 months.

Payment 01/05/20 for AP ended 28/02/20. So we have missed out January AND now paying 2 months in arrears.

29/05/20 for AP ended 28/04/20. Still 2 months in arrears.

26/06/20 3 transactions

1. Universal Credit 23/01/19-26/06/20 - arrears payment
2. Universal Credit 23/01/19-26/06/20 - reversal of arrears payment
3. Universal Credit 29/04/20-28/05/20 - 2 months in arrears

One missing month is credited on 05/09/20 out of cycle leaving one still missing.

Client also has a further missing payment in 2019…

I WONDER…

Tax credits had a glitch I personally experienced around 2008 where an arrears payment is made for a previous tax year and the system identifies it as a payment of ongoing entitlement which immediately generates a current year OP.  I wonder whether it is the coincidence of making an arrears payment on a payday which has thrown it.

There are other examples in this rent statement where 1. UC credited 2. Same amount of UC reversed 3. Same amount of UC recredited.

Please send help!

would this not be the “missing” APA payment???

im sure they changed the payment schedule in August/Sept 2020 which if your looking at the rent statement would suggest its that if there was also one in 2019

obviously there is other issues but would certainly confirm one missing payment in 2019 and one in 2020? especially if they were roughly around the same time

Thanks :) It’s a pity neither UC nor the HA explained this to the client,

I will just check with them that they have received 12 payments during the year.
