Noticed this “consultation” was announced last week with very little fanfare.

Consultation on aligning the upper age for NHS prescription exemptions with State Pension age

More penny pinching on very spurious grounds from the government, this only applies to England of course, as they’re already free for people living in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and I’d predict the on-costs of treating older people who fail to take up prescriptions will outweigh any estimated savings.

Why not just keep it at 60 and keep older people as healthy as possible during an international health crisis?

This is just further privatisation of the NHS - prescription charges - the bit of the NHS that is NOT free at the point of contact but everyone just accepts, even though it probably costs more in the long run
