Client is a single person but has other non-dependent adults living with her under a ‘Shared Lives Scheme’ who have serious MH conditions, does she qualify for a single person discount on Council Tax?
Sorry if this is wrong discussion thread! wasn’t sure where to post it!...

I’m not entirely sure if they’d qualify for a Single Persons Discount but if they have serious mental health conditions might they not qualify for a Severely Mentally Impaired discount?

Hi, yes thanks for that.

If the two people living with the client are SMI then she would qualify for SPD wouldn’t she?
Providing they are SMI and have got certificate from a GP and are on qualifying benefits.

That is correct.  She may also qualify for a carer’s disregard herself.  That would result in there being no ‘visible’ residents in the property and therefore a 50% discount would apply.
