I assisted a client with complex medical issues to compete her PIP renewal form. 14 weeks later she has not had a decision. When she contacted the PIP office she was told her case is with the “Special Investigation Team “-
What is this ?
How can we progress matters ?

The client has meanwhile lost her travel benefits as the DWP refuse to issue the necessary letter confirming she is entitled to PIP while the renewal is ongoing

No idea, but usually when special teams are mentioned, everything grinds to a halt and nobody will give you a clear answer as to what is going on, its a fair bet that some sort of fraud allegation is involved.

A quick internet search for DWP special investigations team inevitably only brings up fraud.
