Hi,
I have a mixed aged couple on UC and Mr has just turned pension age last month. He hasn’t claimed his pension though. Having checked CPAG it looks like he can defer it but simply won’t get any increase in state pension from deferring it. I thought deferring wasn’t an option when on benefits so just wanted to double-check this is correct and an option for him? Thank you.

He can defer his State Pension but UC will treat him as having notional income so it’s not a realistic option.

Thanks - notional income! I knew there was a catch!
