Carers Addition in Pension Credit after death
I have a lady who gets £37.50 in her pension credit for being a carer despite her husband dying years ago. Were there old rules that meant this could continue beyond the usual 8 weeks? Cheers
Yes there were. If you were 65 or over on 27/10/02 and were getting ICA (as it then was) then you can carry on getting it indefinitely after the cared for person died.
Wow - that’s a blast from the past - had completely forgotten that rule!
Great, thanks! Never come across that rule before. Wish it was still like that!
