Extensions of MIF start-up periods

The policy costings published with the Spending Review say that anyone who was in a start-up period when the suspension of the MIF came in will see their start-up period extended alongside the MIF suspension.

The regs provide a power for the SoS to extend start-up periods, but I hadn’t seen it previously announced that they would provide a blanket extension to all existing start-up periods.

Thanks Charles

It’s been on my mind what they’d do about that; I deal with quite a few self employed people.

edit… I don’t suppose you know how long the extension will be for.

It would appear it’ll be for the length of time the MIF is suspended for, which is currently for 13 months (30 March 2020 to 30 April 2021). So for example if someone’s start-up period began on 01/01/2020, it would end approx. 31/01/2022.
