Hi All

Client on CA, IS, CTC and HB. Has been offered work for 9 hours per week. My understanding is that, although IS will stop (income exceeds) she can remain on CTC and HB rather than claim UC.
However, if work doesn’t work out for her and stops, she cannot reclaim IS as carer and would have to either have to manage on HB, CTS and CA or claim UC. Have I got this right?

Yepp. Its probably a fair bet that the client would be better off just claiming UC as soon as the work starts though because CTC and HB is going to be roughly reflected by the child and housing costs elements of UC but she will also get the standard allowance and carers element through UC which will approximately reflect the lost IS. I would do a better off calculation for her.

Thanks Elliot. Is actually worse off by about 70p per week on UC. Suspect that’s due to child disability element etc.
