I’ve had a lot of enquiries from the self employed regarding the various assistance available to them. For most, it will be the Small Business Grant Funding (if they have premesis) and the Self Employment Income Support scheme..

The SEISS isn’t payable until June when I understand it will be paid retrospectively to cover the prev three months at which point it will be taken into account for that assessment period for UC purposes from what I gather.

I also have a number of clients not claiming UC for various reasons (rightly or wrongly) and are claiming CTR or both HB and CTR.

So far I haven’t been able to find any guidance covering how this income will be treated for CTR/HB purposes.

At this stage I am assuming that claimants would be assessed on their circumstances as they are now, i.e. nil income and it would need to be reported as a change in circumstances at that time.

Has anyone seen any guidance regarding this? I am assuming at this stage that CTR/HB will follow suit with UC.

Scotland has announced that -

A further £100 million fund is also being made available to protect self-employed people and viable micro and SME businesses in distress due to COVID. This fund will be channelled through local authorities and enterprise agencies to target newly self-employed people and businesses who are ineligible for other Scottish Government or UK Government schemes.
